Who We Are

Who Are We?

South Barwon is a community of people from Geelong and surrounds, seeking to love, follow and learn from Jesus Christ. While we are diverse in age, background and walks of life, we are united by our common belief that Jesus, God's sinless Son, suffered and died that this world might be restored, and our lives brought back to relationship with God. We believe that this is the best news ever, and it influences everything - both in our church and in our lives.

Where have we come from?

South Barwon was planted in 1989, from the Geelong Christian Reformed Church. For many years we met in the Grovedale Community Hall, but moved to the auditorium of the Reformed Theological College in 2000 and have met there since. In 2013 we planted a new church (The Hub) in Grovedale, and in 2014 the church began 3216 Connect Inc., an op shop and charity focused on meeting needs in the Geelong community.

What are we here for?

Ever since humanity walked away from Him, God has been graciously working His plan to restore the world. That plan is all about Jesus, who, through his life, death and resurrection, is saving people from this world to be his very own. As a church we are a part of that new creation. And so we are here to enjoy the new life that Jesus has given us, to worship God for all that he has done, to grow as disciples of Jesus and to be involved in the life changing work of bringing the good news to the world. In everything we do we want to make new disciples of Jesus.
