Who We Are

Who Are We?

South Barwon is a community of people from Geelong and surrounds, seeking to make and grow disciples of Jesus Christ. While we are diverse in age, background and walks of life, we are united by our common belief that Jesus, God's sinless Son, suffered and died that this world might be restored, and our lives brought back to relationship with God. We believe that this is the best news ever, and it shapes everything - both in our church and in our lives.

Our mission:

Ever since humanity walked away from Him, God has been graciously working His plan to restore the world. That plan is all about Jesus, who, through his life, death and resurrection, is saving people from this world to be his very own. Therefore our mission is to:

Make, Mature and Mobilise committed followers of Jesus.

This mission shapes everything we do as a church, from our Sunday Worship to our Growth Groups, from our Children's and Youth Ministry, to our Pastoral Care. We want to see God honoured in and through us as people come to know him and live for him.

Where have we come from?

South Barwon was planted in 1989, from the Geelong Christian Reformed Church. For many years we met in the Grovedale Community Hall, but moved to the auditorium of the Reformed Theological College in 2000 and have met there since. In 2013 we planted a new church (The Hub) in Grovedale, and in 2014 the church began 3216 Connect Inc., an op shop and charity focused on meeting needs in the Geelong community.
